At the TopDown booth we’ve had a lot of old friends and some new friends stopping by to say hello, chat about the latest in the EPM industry, and all the interesting information that’s being imparted at KSCOPE this year. For those of you who haven’t stopped by yet, we’re at booth #520 and we still have lots of mints.

ODTUG continues to deliver and by offering more functional and technical EPM content, hands on labs, and access to Oracle experts in the community, ODTUG strengthens its position as the closest thing to the old Hyperion conferences. The resort facility, food, and entertainment also have not disappointed.

The EPM Business track is new this year. It balances more of the functional content into this technical agenda of sessions. We’ve seen interest in ODI, Essbase Studio, and industry solution best practices.

Over 100 people attended the OTN Lunch & Learn where the discussion focused on important topics in the EPM industry. Some of the items discussed:

  • Moving away from EPMA data sync to using ERPI for data movement
  • Plans to create better, more robust Oracle support documentation
  • The consequences of re-architecting HFM to utilize Essbase as the main calculation engine
  • Practical examples of using EAL at clients

The sessions on Tuesday continued to be interesting and informative. Our own Opal Alapat presented one on utilizing ODI to do Hyperion automation and error trapping. To 40+ attendees. Her session covered a range of topics including items to consider when creating an EPM automation strategy, lessons learned at a major retailer, and ODI advanced tips & tricks. For those of you who missed the session, click here to read the white paper.

Don’t miss Juan Porter today when he presents the Group 1 Automotive Case Study from 3-4 PM.

Check back tomorrow for the Day 3 update and highlights, and don’t forget to pop into our booth to say hello.
